Version of this project
The Swedish Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, known as “The Forest,” was designed to showcase Sweden’s commitment to sustainability and innovation
The pavilion was a collaboration between Alessandro Ripellino Arkitekter, Studio Adrien Gardère, and Luigi Pardo Architetti.
The design of the pavilion was inspired by the Scandinavian woodlands, incorporating elements of Islamic geometric design to create a unique architectural and storytelling experience. Visitors could explore paths flanked by wooden trunks, symbolizing Sweden’s focus on building smart cities, developing next-generation travel, and promoting a bio-circular economy.
The pavilion emphasized co-creation and innovation, highlighting how open, innovative, and transparent societies can be built1. It served as a metaphor for a dynamic, creative, and interconnected ecosystem, reflecting Sweden’s identity and values.
