Version of this project
A modern bouldering hall in Vienna designed with spacious climbing areas and abundant natural light. The centre features sustainable mass timber construction, creating a welcoming and eco-friendly atmosphere for climbers of all levels.
Boulder Monkeys is the name of a climbing gym in Vienna that opened in 2024 and caters to climbers of all levels. The building impresses with its natural look and bright interior. The interior design is made almost entirely of wood, while large windows and skylights bring natural light into the hall.
With the material choices, the gym operator wanted to bring the feeling of outdoor climbing to the walls of the hall. This was achieved by using solid wood, which contributes to the natural feel and significantly increases the feel-good factor.
Jenbach-based Art Rock Kletterwände Ges.m.b.H. planned the building based on Sylva™ CLT elements installed in industrial visual and non-visual quality, the solid wood elements fulfill different functions in the building and pursue one of the operator's main objectives: well-being.
