MAK Building

This office building was constructed on top of a reinforced concrete frame structure of a pre-existing garage. On top is an X-lam wall structure and a roof made with a framework of exposed laminated wood beams. The wooden and aluminium windows define the facades and perfectly capture the dualism between the external cladding and the internal wooden structure. The main facade, facing the town, is clad in larch strips, while the aluminum of the cladding hiding the gutter channels and other technical elements inside. The internal partitions are made of plasterboard. The entire building was designed in three dimensions harmonizing all the aspects of the construction.

But what are we talking about when we mention comfort in a work environment? Light first of all: ample space was given to windows designed to maximize the amount of natural light in the offices. In this way the eyes, already stressed by the use of screens, can find rest even by wandering towards the panoramic horizons. Furthermore, the windows of the facades most exposed to the sun have been masked with a special film to further increase internal comfort. The internal lighting was also studied in detail and the ducts were prepared during the assembly phase of the structure, so as to reach all the light points without impacting on it.

The use of x-lam for the supporting structure, with mineral wool insulation (160mm thick), together with the heating / cooling system with floor pipes, which the building is equipped with, guarantees optimal temperature and acoustics in any season.
