Version of this project
When pod bau Gmbh was founded in 2018, they made a fundamental decision to only produce the modules in cross laminated timber (CLT) and not use timber frame construction.
This decision was based on the materials’ low weight, good indoor climate, and the fact that the material is renewable. CLT is also easy to process, perfectly suited to building physics, and can be stacked. For example, several modules can be built on top of each other.
All these advantages of CLT as a building material have also been utilised in the eee Hotel project. Due to the narrow construction widths, larger rooms can also be realised using the same building physics.
With a construction time of around four months - from module assembly to handover to the operator - a hotel was built in Upper Austria, in the centre of Austria's largest electric vehicle charging park.
Managing Director Johann Drack commented that the special feature of this project is that it was built over six storeys using only timber construction, not in timber hybrid construction.
