Designing with mass timber for the elderly
We all know it instinctively, being in wooden spaces makes us feel calmer, we relax and have that warm sense of home.
What better place to infuse this precious quality than into healthcare design for senior citizens? Which is why when a small Swedish municipality needed a new care home, they chose to build it with 100% sustainable wood.
Byggpartner made smart and efficient use of a Sylva™ by Stora Enso kit consisting of 1044 m³ Sylva Walls, Floors and Roofs and Sylva360™ model conversions that form a pitchfork shape of a building that serves as both a care home with nursing facilities with 60 units.
Did you know research proves we heal faster in biophilic health care facilities?
