Version of this project
The mass timber construction provides a healthy, sustainable, and inspiring environment for children to learn and play.
Allerheiligen bei Wildon, is a community south of Graz, in Austria, faced a growing need for more school and childcare facilities. To meet this demand, the primary school and kindergarten were expanded at their existing location, with a key focus on connecting the two institutions using a Sylva™ kit of parts.
The primary school's extension, designed as an elevated structure, allows for a high-quality expansion with minimal disruption to the existing building, preserving the forecourt and entrance.
The kindergarten, also elevated due to the topography, seamlessly attaches to the primary school, creating a unified structure.
The free-floating kindergarten roof offers an outdoor play area, usable even in bad weather. The building proportions and façade design give the large structure an elegant and light appearance.
The architectural firm, Ganster Architektur, founded in 2011 is based in Graz, Austria. The firm, led by Erich Franz Ganster, emphasizes high standards in aesthetics across a diverse range of projects.
