Version of this project
Under the Orlické Mountains in the centre of the village of Dolní Čermná, Czech Republic, stands a two-storey mixed-use building made from a prefabricated mass timber kit of parts.
The ground floor houses the administrative offices of the renowned architectural firm svoboda.plan, led by Jiří Svoboda, the project’s visionary. Above, the first floor features a spacious apartment designed for a family with children.
Initiated in 2021, the project was completed within a month timeframe by INNOVAplan. The structural frame was completed within three weeks!
The building is engineered to maximize energy efficiency, leveraging the thermal properties of the cross-laminated timber elements to minimize the need for artificial heating and cooling, thereby reducing operational emissions.
The Sylva™ CLT Walls, Floors, and Roofs are constructed from renewable resource. More trees than were harvested to manufacture the CLT are now growing back in sustainably managed forests in Central Europe.
