One of the greatest architectural challenges is renovating pre-existing buildings while keeping their original integrity. Sylva™ by Stora Enso has proven to be a perfect solution because of the versatility, lightweight and mechanical performance of wood. Situated on the Monte Velo slopes, on the outskirts of Bolognano, the private residence, complete with lush landscaping and a swimming pool is a partial renovation on an existing masonry structure and a brick slab. The most damaged parts of the existing structure were demolished and replaced with a CLT X-Lam wooden structure with Sylva CLT walls and Roof provided by Stora Enso. The structure easily meets REI30 fire performance. The windows are made of aluminum wood with external sunshades.

The residential building houses five apartments on two levels with useful sizes exceeding 45 square meters, for a total of 350 square meters.

The heating is underfloor, while on the flat roof there are photovoltaic panels for the production of electricity and solar panels that take full advantage of the mild climate and favorable exposure.

The result delivers sustainable, healthy homes with luxurious comfort built in.
