Version of this project
Nuovo Maso is a multi-residential complex located in Andalo, Trento, Italy, delivered in 2024. Built on a 2,500 m² site with a total constructed area of 600 m², the project comprises three timber buildings rising two to three floors above ground. The layout centers around a shared green courtyard, offering both privacy and a strong connection to the surrounding alpine landscape.
The architectural concept reinterprets traditional alpine forms with a contemporary language. Each building features private outdoor spaces—gardens or terraces—that encourage a close relationship with nature. The design emphasizes clean lines, natural materials, and a harmonious integration with the mountainous environment.
Sustainable materials
All above-ground structures are built using Sylva™ CLT Walls, Floors, and Roofs provided by Stora Enso. Wall elements are 100 and 120 mm thick, while the Floors are 160 mm.
The roofs are constructed with glulam beams and spruce boards, insulated with mineral wool and equipped with a double ventilation system. A distinctive feature is the slender eaves clad in larch, which conceal the gutter system for a seamless and refined finish.
Exterior surfaces combine natural larch cladding, light-toned plaster, and porphyry stone paths. Prefabricated balconies, timber brise-soleil, and continuous metal railings contribute to the elegant and durable façade, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
Energy Efficiency
The building envelope was designed to achieve A+ energy performance, supporting the project’s commitment to sustainability. A reinforced concrete basement accommodates parking and cellar spaces, while the timber superstructure ensures high thermal performance and reduced environmental impact.
Thanks to prefabrication and precise planning, the entire complex was completed in just eight months—demonstrating the efficiency and reliability of modern timber construction.
Collaborative Excellence
The project was developed in partnership with MAK Building, with architectural design by Arch. Fabrizio Bosetti. Construction and timber installation were carried out by ALPENOS di STP srl, who served as both main contractor and specialist timber sub-contractor.
