Version of this project
Andalo Dolomiti Living is a residential complex that exemplifies high-quality timber construction, certified by both ARCA and CasaClima. Built using cross-laminated timber (Sylva™ CLT Walls, Floors and Roofs), the project combines low-carbon-emission materials with durability, ensuring a solid long-term investment.
Reconstruction and expansion
The intervention involved demolishing, reconstructing, and expanding a 1950s building in a panoramic area of Andalo. Within a heterogeneous architectural context, the design reinterprets traditional Trentino farmstead elements in a contemporary way, featuring dual-pitched roofs and spacious balconies.
Optimised orientation and material integration
Developed over three above-ground floors, the building is designed to maximise natural light, with a south-facing orientation that integrates harmoniously into the Alpine landscape. Materials such as charred wood and metal cladding reference local architectural traditions, blending seamlessly with the surroundings and earning positive feedback from the landscape commission.
Dynamic volumes and functional interiors
The two main volumes, positioned at different elevations, create a dynamic effect with irregular balconies and subtle rotations. Inside, the layout is rational and efficient, with large terraces facing south. The north-facing façade is designed for thermal protection, while wooden screens and overhangs create an interplay of light and shadow.
Harmonious blend of nature and innovation
The result is an architectural work deeply connected to its natural heritage while embracing modern principles of sustainability.
