Version of this project
The temporary housing project in Zolling was designed to provide interim accommodation for individuals in need, such as refugees or those displaced by emergencies. Managed by the local government, the project ensures that the housing meets the residents' needs.
Zolling, a picturesque municipality in the Bavarian district, is located about six kilometers north of Freising. The project was designed by Seidlkern Architekten, a firm based in Fahrenzhausen near Freising. Led by Bernhard and Claudia Seidl along with Sonja and Robert Kern, the firm is known for its functional design approach.
The project utilized Sylva™ CLT Floors and Roofs to construct two three-storey buildings, accommodating 150 people. Initially planned with steel containers, the design switched to prefabricated mass timber due to its superior thermal and acoustic insulation properties.
The modules can be individually combined and adapted to meet various needs and local conditions, providing a flexible and efficient solution for temporary accommodation.
