Version of this project
Situated in the renowned tourist resort of San Martino di Castrozza, on the edge of the town, an old holiday house dating back to the 1960s was demolished and rebuilt, giving rise to a building that is part of a lot characterized by the presence of tall and majestic fir trees.
The architectural project by the Mimeus Architettura collective balances clean and modern lines with material references to the Alpine context; the result is an elegant and welcoming wood construciton.
The building has a total area of 185 square meters and consists of two sections: in the main, on three levels, the rooms of the family home, are the guest accommodation, technical rooms and the garage. The smaller section, accessible from both the garden and the house, houses the wellness area with sauna, jacuzzi and relaxation area.
Except for the basement created in reinforced concrete, the entire structure is made from Xlam Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). The external cladding is made from heat-treated larch planks with a play of opposite orientations of the battens.
The roof is made of two-blade or lamellar beams and, to accommodate the project, in some points the structure was also defined by the insertion of metal structures. The internal staircase, characterized by a range of steps, was built thanks to the assembly of a series of specially shaped X-lam CLT elements.
