Version of this project
Located in the scenic Val di Non valley in northern Italy’s Trentino-Alto Adige region, Casa F is a renovation project that transforms a 1980s home through a timber rooftop extension and expansion. The goal was to improve comfort and energy efficiency while blending seamlessly with the surrounding alpine landscape.
The original attic was removed and replaced with a new timber volume, complete with a veranda that shelters the terrace below. The design embraces a clean, modern architectural language, preserving the essence of the original structure.
Key features include recessed balconies, natural material selections, and a 16 cm insulated façade finished with plaster. Triple-glazed wood-aluminium windows contribute to an A+ energy rating, ensuring optimal thermal performance and minimal energy use.
Over 230 m³ of prefabricated Sylva CLT Walls, Floors and Roofs and 12 m³ of spruce were used to construct the new volume and prefabricated roof. The dry construction method enabled fast, precise assembly and seamless interior integration, with minimal exposed elements for a sleek finish.
All timber was sourced from PEFC-certified forests, reflecting Alpenos’ commitment to sustainable building.
