As part of the vertical extension of a single-family house in Hamburg, a high-quality, modular bathroom from Tjiko with Sylva™ CLT walls and floors was installed.

This project demonstrates impressively how modular timber construction can be used for efficient and sustainable expansion of living space, even for smaller-scale developments. The prefabricated bathroom module was delivered by our partner Tjiko as a ready-to-install solution.

The module features Sylva™ CLT walls and floors from Stora Enso, which form a robust and sustainable core structure for the bathroom, meeting the highest standards of precision and workmanship. The factory production of the bathroom module guarantees exact execution and significantly shortens the construction time on site. All installations, tiling, sanitary fittings, electrics, and surfaces were manufactured under controlled conditions at Tjiko, ensuring outstanding quality and reliability. The finished module was delivered on schedule and installed by crane, minimizing noise, dirt, and disruption at the construction site.

By using Sylva™ CLT elements, the project benefits from excellent dimensional stability, high load-bearing capacity, and long-term sustainability. Efficient factory production minimizes material waste and supports the circular economy, as the bathroom module can be dismantled and reused at the end of its lifecycle.

Although this is a relatively small project, it is another example of how the advantages of modular timber construction in terms of speed, sustainability, and quality can be realized.
