25 King built in wood

There is a brand new nine story office building on King Street in Brisbane, Australia. 25 King is built with CLT, supplied by Stora Enso, and engineered and processed by Lendlease. 25 King is Australia’s tallest engineered timber office building, with a total floor area of 14 921 square metres.

CLT by Stora Enso has been used in other Lendlease projects in Australia, for example, Library at the Dock in Melbourne and International House Sydney in Sydney. “We are proud to be able to serve Australians with this truly renewable and sustainable construction material,” says Erkki Välikangas, responsible for Stora Enso business development in Australia.

Wooden buildings offer other advantages too. CLT elements are pre-fabricated before delivery to the construction site, which means less time and resources use, less waste and less disturbances onsite and in the surrounding community.

“We are continuously developing our products and building solutions enabling longer spans and optimising material usage to provide more saleable square meters,” Erkki continues.

This is true for all markets. Stora Enso is launching a concept for commercial buildings that includes information – for example BIM models, designs and life cycle analysis – about building with wood for architects, designers, developers and construction companies. This widens the portfolio of already existing concepts for residential, school and industrial buildings.
