Version of this project
Located in Velizy-Villacoublay, near the forest of Meudon, this set of two six-storey buildings includes 66 housing units in accession, 26 social housing, two basements and a business, in the heart of a landscaped park of 2,200 m².
The Logements collectifs - Althéa in Velizy, is comprised of CLT massive wood by Stora Enso. The floors, facades and walls were made of CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) solid wood to reduce the carbon footprint.
Wood is also present inside each dwelling for the well-being of future inhabitants, with an exposed wooden wall, parquet flooring, and the wooden ceilings of the R+6 visible.
Altogether, the project comprises 480 m². The modern construction material has an extremely welcome side effect: the healthy climate within wooden structures creates a particularly pleasant indoor environment and has a demonstrably positive effect on residents’ wellbeing.
